Sweet & Sour Cabbage
If you have an extra head of cabbage that you don't know what to do with, you could add this tasty vegetable dish to the table.
Ingredients
4 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup diced bacon
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon onion powder
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Cook shredded cabbage in boiling water until tender (salt water to taste).
- Drain cabbage and place in serving bowl.
- Fry diced bacon until well done. Keep bacon fat in frying pan.
- Sprinkle fried bacon on top of cabbage.
- Blend flour into bacon fat in frying pan.
- Add honey, vinegar, water and onion powder to frying pan.
- Stir over medium heat until thickened.
- Pour mixture over cabbage and bacon.
- Bake in oven for 10 minutes.
- Serve hot.
