Sweet & Sour Cabbage

If you have an extra head of cabbage that you don't know what to do with, you could add this tasty vegetable dish to the table.

Ingredients

4 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup diced bacon
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon onion powder

 

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Cook shredded cabbage in boiling water until tender (salt water to taste).
  • Drain cabbage and place in serving bowl.
  • Fry diced bacon until well done. Keep bacon fat in frying pan.
  • Sprinkle fried bacon on top of cabbage.
  • Blend flour into bacon fat in frying pan.
  • Add honey, vinegar, water and onion powder to frying pan.
  • Stir over medium heat until thickened.
  • Pour mixture over cabbage and bacon.
  • Bake in oven for 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
