Sweet & Sour Cabbage
Got an extra head of cabbage from the garden that you don't know what to do with. Add this tasty vegetable dish to the table tonight.| 4 | cups | shredded cabbage | 1 | l |
| 1/2 | cup | diced bacon | 120 | ml |
| 3 | tblsp | flour | 45 | ml |
| 1/4 | cup | honey | 60 | ml |
| 1/4 | cup | vinegar | 60 | ml |
| 1/2 | cup | water | 120 | ml |
| 1 | tsp | chopped onion | 5 | ml |
Preheat oven to 350 F - 180 C
- Cook shredded cabbage in boiling water until tender (salt water to taste)
- Drain water from cabbage and place in serving bowl.
- Fry diced bacon until well done - Keep bacon fat in frying pan
- Place fried bacon on top of cabbage.
- Blend flour into bacon fat in frying pan
- Add honey, vinegar, water and chopped onion to frying pan
- Stir over medium heat until thickened
- Pour over cabbage and bacon
- Bake in oven for 10 minutes
- Serve hot
